Manny Malhotra has eye surgery today, after yesterday getting hit be a redirected puck near center ice. The Vancouver Canucks recall Victor Oreskovich from the Manitoba Moose to take Malhotra’s spot. Head Coach Alain Vigneault said after practice Thursday that Malhotra’s vision was definitely affected after he was hit by a puck in Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. He is being tested and has visited a specialist. Malhotra will be missed by the Canucks because he brings quality depth to the Canucks forwards. While being a face off specialist, where Malhotra is very valuable on the power play and penalty kill. The Canucks are still missing defenseman Alex Elder and Andrew Alberts from their defensive core. Vancouver plays Phoenix tomorrow in Vancouver, where the Canucks are 2 – 1 with one of those wins in overtime.
