Puck Daddy:
For any puckhead, the name Marek Malik(notes) should immediately
conjure one of the greatest shootout highlights since the skills competition
was added to the NHL overtime: His between-the-legs goal (video)
against Olaf Kolzig(notes) of the Washington Capitals to give the New York Rangers a 15-round
shootout win in Nov. 2005.
It's time to add another video classic to the Malik
filmography ... for an entirely different reason.
The images above capture Malik, now playing for Servette
Geneva of the Swiss Hockey League, scoring on his own goaltender, Tobias
Stephan(notes) (former Dallas Stars backup), in a playoff game against EV Zug on March 30 in Bern. From the top left, clockwise: Malik is pressured
behind his own goal (1), attempts to pass across the crease to a teammate (2),
hits his own goalie on the left skate (3) and the puck deflects into the back of the
net (4).
But the photos don't
do it justice, right? Click
here or on the image below to watch his play hilariously ...
