The last time Patrick Maroon was recalled to Anaheim, he did not see any playing time.  This time, he is likely to be on the ice and in the line up while the Ducks are on a seven game road trip.  Maroon joined the Ducks in Chicago and practiced with the team on Monday.  Will he be on the ice for Tuesday night's game against the Blackhawks?  Coach Randy Carlyle would neither confirm nor deny that possibility.”We usually don’t bring a player up and not play him," said Carlyle.  "Now is it tomorrow night? Well, maybe. He will see some action on the road trip.”In other words, you will see him when you see him. Will the same be said of Devante Smith-Pelly?  Smith-Pelly, 19, has done very well with the Ducks this year and been a good fit on the third line with the Andrews - Cogliano and Gordon.  However, the Ducks have to make a decision about whether to keep him or send him back to his junior club in Missassauga of the OHL.   Smith-Pelly is not old enough to be sent to Syr...

Jonas Hiller wearing mask of mustaches

Every November hockey players sport unusual facial hair in support of Movember, a month of raising funds for men’s health issues. For Movember, Hiller isn’t just going to grow some facial hair of his own, but plaster his mask with black and white images of teammates sporting their mustaches. The Goalie Guild unveiled the images today: The mask Jonas Hiller will wear during...

Instant classic: Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller’s Movember mask

Movember is the month-long effort to raise funds and awareness for men's health issues by growing fabulous facial hair throughout November. Given that NHL players are familiar with going unshaven for a specific time period, they're naturals for Movember participation — witness 10 of the best 'staches from last season. Anaheim Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller may have...

Blackhawks Winger Dan Carcillo Looking Forward to 'Duck Hunt' Against Anaheim Ducks

Remember Duck Hunt? That old video game for the original Nintendo that came with the plastic gun that you would shoot at the screen and that dog would laugh at you when you messed up? Well, Chicago Blackhawks winger Dan Carcillo loved that game as a kid. Either that, or he's getting a little too clever about playing against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. "Favorite game...

Damn Teemu Selanne: Ducks 2 @ Blackhawks 2, Hawks win Toin Coss

It's funny hearing people rant about narratives in sports journalism. It's funny because the story going into the night was the Blackhawks' struggles on the shootout (scoreless in six tries), the shootout drills held during practice, and what happens when the Hawks play against the Ducks the very next game? Boom. Shootout. To be fair, it was something that felt almost...

Chicago Takes Extra Point in 3-2 Shootout Win over Ducks

Two bad losses and the Ducks needed a road trip to turn things around.  OK, the ship is still not straight, but it is veering closer to the right direction after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.  Gaining a point in the loss was certainly a vast improvement over zero points and pulling Jonas Hiller from net because he looked, to be quite honest, awful.  Some morning...

Hawks Top Ducks in Shootout

Yeah, it's only eight games. There's so much further to go, but seeing as how it never happened last season, the fact that the Hawks put their head to the pillow Tuesday night as first in the division, well, we'll just let that put a smile on our face. If only for a second or two. Anyway, weird game against Anaheim. Some good, some bad. But the problems of Saturday...

Our Fine Feathered Friends: Ducks at Hawks Preview

Seems rare in the four seasons I've been writing this, but the Hawks go into tonight's game, the fourth in a row I can say this, with no injury concerns or lineup changes. Sure, there may be some shuffling of lines, but it's unlikely. Though the Hawks juggled things in the 3rd period of the shootout loss to the Avalanche, that was more to get back into the game. Most...

Ducks-Wild Preview

The Anaheim Ducks didn't get one of the longest road trips in team history off to an ideal start. They also might have trouble earning a victory in the next stop on that trek. The well-rested Minnesota Wild will try to extend a five-game home win streak over the Ducks on Thursday night. Anaheim's seven-game road trip is tied for the club's third-longest ever, and the...

Photo: Jonas Hiller Takes Movember To Another Level With New Mask

Facial hair in the National Hockey League is nothing new.  Each year in the playoffs the hockey beards come out, but long before that point there is Movember.  Movember is and effort throughout the month of November to raise money and awareness for different men’s health issues by growing mustaches.  On some the mustaches look good, while on others they provide...
