The Maple Leafs may not have had much success on the ice in recent years, but the city of Toronto has had something to celebrate. Longtime Leafs captain Mats Sundin was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, capping off a 18-year career with the honor. Sundin was just the second Swedish player to be inducted, and the first to make it on his first year of eligibility. Sundin was the No. 1 overall pick in 1989, going to the Quebec Nordiques. He was traded to the Maple Leafs in 1994, where he played the bulk of his career and was eventually named captain. He finished his career with 564 goals and 785 assists, and he is also the Leafs franchise record-holder for goals (420) and points (984).
