After an epic battle with the New Jersey Devils’ Cam Janssen and bloodying the Anaheim Ducks’ George Parros, the Nashville Predators’ Brian McGrattan entered into his third tilt with the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Jay Rosehill on Tuesday night.
At 7:02 of the third period at Bridgestone Arena, with Nashville up 3-1 in a game they would win 4-1, McGrattan and Rosehill dropped the gloves.
“I asked him to go in the first period and he said, ‘Maybe later,’” McGrattan said. “We scored in the second period and he asked me. I didn’t feel the time was right. We had just scored a goal and it would give his end a jump. Win or lose, it still gives the team a bit of jump. But we got it done in the third and hopefully it was a good show.”
For McGrattan, a player who has been in over 50 fights as an NHL player, Rosehill was a new opponent. Having played in just 47 NHL games, Rosehill has amassed 143 penalty minutes.
