Adam McQuaid will not be suspended for his knee on knee hit on Senators’ forward Nick Foligno in Wednesday night’s 5-2 victory. Mmcquaid was given a five minute penalty and a game misconduct for the hit, but due to the fact that he has no history with the NHL regarding supplemental discipline, he will not be punished further.
The decision was made by the league office that the hit was a reaction to the play, more than an intent to injure Foligno. Foligno missed one shift before returning, and stated himself that he didn’t think McQuaid intended to injure him on the hit.
