3Mike Modano handled his multiple healthy scratches during this past year's playoffs without any public complaining. But two months after the Red Wings put away their gear for the 2010-'11 season, Modano felt the need to voice to get in a jab about the organization. He didn't call out the coaching staff or the front office executives or any players. Instead, he called out the team plane.
"I'm like 'burn this thing down'," Modano told a Dallas radio station. Modano complained because the team plane, Redbird II, cannot fly nonstop to the west coast without stopping for fuel. Modano, who incorrectly called it Redbird One (which was retired in 1999), blamed it on superstition.
