BOSTON — Milan Lucic didn’t opt to go the route many of his Bruins teammates did during the NHL lockout. With many of his teammates — a league-most 12 of them in fact — heading overseas to play in Europe during the lockout, Lucic opted to stay in North America and wait it out on familiar territory. When the B’s returned to informal practices upon the end of the lockout, Lucic’s conditioning level was questioned by some. A week later, he and his wife Brittany welcomed their first child into the world. In short, it’s been a whirlwind leading up to Saturday night’s season opener. But if Lucic has any rust to knock off, he didn’t show it. The bruising forward, a notoriously slow starter, came out with energy from the jump, even getting the Bruins’ scoring going with a first-period goal. That goal was the byproduct of absorbing body contact through the neutral zone, sticking with the play and skating hard into the attacking zone where he slammed home a David Krejci rebound, putting it by...

Numbers show 48-game season is perfect for Claude

Bruins head coach Claude Julien has experienced overall success in his five seasons here in Boston. From totaling the third most points in franchise history in '08-09, to winning the Stanley Cup in '10-11. But those seasons were all full 82-game schedules where he had the luxury of feeling out his team by trying new things midseason like messing with the power play or...

The massive amounts of hetero man-love we hold for Shawn Thornton is known far and wide across the land, and a big reason is that his interviews are always classic.  The interview he gave at the Hockey Ressurection Party last night was no exception. We hoped to have this up earlier, but Youtube was being a pain in the ass, but all good things to those who wait.

Last season, many hailed the Rangers as one of the deepest and most complete teams in the league and they proved that to be true with an...

Jets-Bruins Preview

Despite the long lockout, the Boston Bruins appeared to be in midseason form in winning their opener. They should have a good chance to make it two in a row with the Winnipeg Jets in town Monday. The Bruins look to make it 11 straight home victories over a Jets team that, in contrast, looked rusty in dropping its first game. Boston got goals from Milan Lucic, Daniel Paille and...
