At this point in the season, it’s hard to find a silver lining in a loss, but the Minnesota Wild may have found a small one in Sunday night’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres. The Wild, who had been down 2-0, were able to battle back at home and earn a point out of the game. However, Minnesota did appear to have many chances, including a late breakaway, to come away from the game with 2 points. Having said that, the Wild have lost 3 of their last 4 games, and should just take the point from it and shift their focus to the Colorado Avalanche.
Buffalo first got on the board just 1:23 into the game after Jason Pominville finished off a combination of nice passes that gave Wild goaltender Jose Theodore almost no chance. The Sabres would then take a 2-0 lead on Rob Niedermayer’s first goal of the season on a shot from close-in in the 2nd.
However, the Wild refused to go away, and with under 6 minutes remaining in the 2nd period, Warren Peters would tip-in ...
