Hockey has seen its fair share of heartbreak these last few months, from the untimely deaths of Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien and Wade Belak, to the tragic plane crash that claimed 43 lives, the majority of which were players from the KHL’s team Lokomotiv. One player, Minnesota Wild goalie Josh Harding, has taken it upon himself to honor his fallen hockey brethren in the most goalie-centric way possible—by way of his new goalie mask. Here’s what the mask looks like, from the HF Boards (via Puck Daddy)… Originally Harding’s mask was only going to honor his grandmother Rose, who passed away in May 2011.  Boogaard died a few days later, and was added to the piece of equipment, as was Rypien, following his passing on August 15.  Then Pavol Demitra, who was on the Russian jet carrying the Lokomotiv hockey team.  The Wild goalie was a teammate of all three at one time or another during his career, hence the reason for honoring their memories on his new mask.
