MN Wild Place Forward on IR
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Wild announced today that they have placed Marcus Johansson on Injured Reserve with a lower-body injury. They have recalled forward Adam Beckman from the Iowa Wild. The Wild are also expecting Marat Khusnutdinov to join the team by the weekend.

Beckman was previously recalled on February 5th and sent back down on February 9th. He was recalled on February 11th but sent back down on February 15th once Mason Shaw signed his contract with the Minnesota Wild. Beckman was not given ice time during his previous recall, so this could be his chance to prove that he’s NHL-ready. If he draws into the lineup this time, it will be his first game with Minnesota for the 2023-24 season.

This season in Iowa, Beckman has played 48 games and has 29 points (16 goals and 13 assists). He leads Iowa players in goals and shots. Beckman was drafted by the Wild 75th overall in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft. When he is skating with Minnesota, he wears the #11. In the 12 games he has played with Minnesota in the past two seasons, Beckman has one assist and 16 shots.

Johansson has played in 61 games with Minnesota this season. He has 27 points this season (9 goals and 18 assists). Placing him on Injured Reserve frees up a roster spot for them to recall Beckman, but it also means that he will be out for at least a week. Unlike Long Term Injured Reserve, IR does not come with any salary relief. Click here to read a longer explanation of the differences between LTIR and IR.
