Marian Gaborik Taking Too Much Blame

For all of the experts out there who will only read that title and possibly the first line of this article if your attention span is willing, I am fully aware that Marian Gaborik, the team's leading scorer in the regular season, must be better in the playoffs. So, before you go into the comments section of this post and tell me that I know nothing of the sport I've watched...

Tough losses happen, and it isn’t anyone’s fault, including Gaborik’s

The amount of hatred throw at Marian Gaborik for the Rangers loss last night, or for any loss in general, is frighteningly disturbing. I understand the need to have a scapegoat for a loss, but picking on someone who had an assist in the game and was nowhere near invisible is just irrational. The guy isn’t Wojtek Wolski. He’s not Erik Christensen. He’s not invisible out there...

McIlrath joins Connecticut on ATO

As expected, Dylan McIlrath (1st-2010) will be joining the Connecticut Whale for their playoff push on an ATO. Whale’s Moose Jaw Warriors were eliminated from the WHL playoffs over the weekend by fellow Rangers’ prospect Michael St. Croix and the Edmonton Oil Kings. McIlrath played with the Whale on an ATO last season as well. In two games, he finished with seven PIMs and a -1 rating.

Rangers forward Brian Boyle is back in the New York lineup after missing three games because of a concussion sustained in the first round against Ottawa. The 6-foot-7 Boyle...

Practice Notes: Dubinsky on Crutches; Boyle Progressing

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Brandon Dubinsky (lower body) was not on the ice for today's optional practice, but was seen  slowly getting around the Rangers' practice facility on crutches....in previous years, the possibility of losing Dubinsky long term would be a scary thought, but, to be honest, I don't think it would have that negative an affect...

Breaking down the goals from ECSF Game One

The Rangers opened up the series with a 301 win over the Capitals at MSG. This was one of those games that saw it all: great goaltending, offense, defense, and penalty killing. The powerplay was lacking for both sides, but that’s what happens in this kind of game. Here’s the scoring: 1-0 Rangers There’s not much to be said on this goal but dumb luck. Artem Anismov picked up...

Anisimov Impersonates Graves

In my Game 1 post game thoughts, I noted that Artem Anisimov's goal was eerily similar to Stephane Matteau's Game 7 double overtime winner against the Devils in the Eastern Conference Finals in 1994.However, reader slackos32 points out it was actually closer to Adam Graves' round two series clincher in overyime against New Jersey in 1997......wow that is almost identical...

Jan Levine: Game 1: NYR 3 WAS 1, And a Kid Shall Lead Them...

Good morning all. On a beautiful, crisp spring day in New York where the sun is as bright as can be, the Rangers may have a bright star/supernova. That player is the Natural, the Kid, CK20, whichever nickname you prefer, Chris Kreider is as responsible as anyone for the Rangers getting past Ottawa and taking a 1-0 series lead after beating Washington 3-1 yesterday. (I apologize in...
