Found October 25, 2013 on On the Duck Pond:
So far not so good on this eight game road trip.  Two games down, two losses in a row.  First a 4-2 loss to Toronto and then a 4-1 loss to Montreal.   Ouch.  This was a team who put together seven wins in a row to tie a franchise record and now they cannot find the net.  Having the power play elude them is not helping either. "We didn’t play fast, and we didn’t play our game," said Patrick Maroon, who was the lone scorer for Anaheim, thus spoiling Carey Price's hopes for a shutout.  "We turned a lot of pucks over tonight, which created their offense. We took a lot of penalties and shot ourselves in the foot at the beginning of the game. You’re not going to get any momentum out of that. That’s one area we need to clean up. We’ve got a game tomorrow to fix that. We need to play hard tomorrow." Right now the Ducks have more turnovers than a bakery and to paraphrase TV color analyst Brian Hayward, they still haven't gotten the urge to turn ove...

Canadiens beat Ducks to snap two-game skid

Saku Koivu doesn't want to think about the possibility his team's visit to Bell Centre on Thursday may have been his last. But if it was it was a great way for the former Montreal Canadiens captain to go out. Koivu's Anaheim Ducks weren't able to get him a win Thursday as Tomas Plekanec had a goal and two assists and Carey Price made 31 saves to lead the Canadiens...

Habs playing musical defencemen

The Canadiens have gone from playing musical chairs with their young defencemen to playing musical cities. Rookies Jarred Tinordi and Nathan Beaulieu have been sharing a spot opposite veteran Francis Bouillon on the third defence pair. The challenge has been to give each young player enough ice time to develop and the Canadiens have come up with a solution that has them commuting...

Travis Yost: Andersen Outduels Anderson

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- The Anaheim Ducks are currently regarded as holding the strongest goaltending system in the National Hockey League. Frederik Andersen did a lot on Friday night to reemphasize that sentiment. With Viktor Fasth still on the mend, Andersen stopped twenty-six of twenty-seven shots, beaten only by an absolute laser of a power-play goal by...

Versatile forward Silfverberg settling in with Ducks

Jakob Silfverberg got a call from Rome shortly after he learned he had become a member of the Anaheim Ducks as part of the trade that saw the Ottawa Senators acquire Bobby Ryan. "He was obviously very shocked at the moment, and so was I," said Karlsson...

Eric Engels: Koivu Returns

I'm reposting this blog from last time Koivu came to town. The message remains the same. A Chance to Give Back to a Giver: by Eric Engels Jan 22, 2011 Yesterday, Saku Koivu stoically delivered well-considered answers to questions that forced great introspection on the events that shaped his development; not only as a player, but as a person.
