Montreal Canadiens young budding star Max Pacioretty registered his first NHL hat-trick to the lead the Habs over the New York Islanders in a 4-2 win. Pacioretty career game was over shadowed by veteran Scott Gomez who has scored his first goal in more than a year. The Gomez goal was not just a goal that ended a very long drought for the Anchorage, Alaska native. Gomez’s goal ended up being the game winner, which solidified the Habs two points in this contest. “Trust me, I want to score as much as anyone. But I’m dead serious about this — if it took me not scoring for two years for us to win in Montreal, I’d take it.” Source – http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/over-montreal-scott-gomez-finally-ends-goalless-streak-023740290.html;_ylt=Auc8nnntpRzsrM7uo5nfqhxShgM6 Even with only one goal and 7 assist this season for Gomez. I wonder how many people picked up Gomez in their fantasy leagues after scoring his first goal last night L...

Eric Engels: Max Pacioretty's Incredible Return to Hockey, Gomez's First Goal

1) Scott Gomez got it out of the way, so we can get it out of the way in note #1. He finally scored a goal, hallelujah. Personally, I think he would've settled for two assists instead, setting up Andrei Kostitsyn with some beauty passes that the latter failed to convert. And now we can start the countdown to his next goal. 2) Let's get to the real meat here. Max...

Happy Hockey Day in Canada

Let’s hope it’s a good one. As for the Habs, can they make it four in a row? That would tie their season high, and if it comes to pass it will likely be due to the play of two Habs: Max Pacioretty and Carey Price. Pacioretty is now 5th in even strength scoring in the NHL - pretty impressive for a guy coming off a broken neck. Price, meanwhile, has been lights out the...

It was another unexpected night in the National Hockey League and fantasy hockey leagues. Just when you think that one has it figured out, Thursday happens. There was everything from "warm ice" in New Jersey and Philadelphia to goalies coming out of the cold to vigilante justice. The reality is there was just so much going on that sometimes the big efforts and the...
