Found December 17, 2011 on Kukla's Korner:
The Montreal Canadiens have become the sixth team in the league to fire their coach this season.  Jacques Martin has been fired after about two and a half seasons on the job.  He is replaced by assistant coach Randy Cunneyworth. This is the latest move from a Montreal team in panic mode.  This is a team that already fired assistant coach Perry Pearn just before a game in late October.  Montreal is a team that has been unable to make a serious run this year.  In a demanding market, GM Pierre Gauthier has been firing from the coaching staff to try to buy himself time and placate the fans. I do not expect that a new coach is going to make much of a difference to Montreal, with the possible exception of a short term boost.  Coaching was not the big problem in Montreal, so it isn’t the solution either. Martin Pays Price For GM Gauthier's Mistakes

The Montreal Canadiens have made a move, firing head coach Jacques Martin. Not that this move is without merit, as the Habs have been playing poorly, but to me, a lot more of the blame has to land on the shoulders of GM Pierre Gauthier. Bringing in the highly overpriced Scott Gomez and signing Markov to a large deal this summer have essentially wasted $13M of cap...

Steven Hindle: The Other Shoe...

Gauthier's Big Gamble As Habs fans have no doubt read in Eric Engels most recent entry, though Jacques Martin was responsible for his fair share of the Habs foibles this season, he wasn't alone. Yet, having moved forward in ousting the conservative coach, everyone waits for the other shoe to drop. That other shoe, of course, is Pierre Gauthier. Left as the other...

Habs in danger of being Hab nots

Various things have been slipping away from the Montreal Canadiens recently. Now that coach Jacques Martin has been shown the door, the team is hoping for no more slippage. Leads and points have slipped out of the Canadiens' grasp of late. General manager Pierre Gauthier hopes his latest move keeps the team's playoff hopes from doing the same. Gauthier announced on Saturday...

Larry Carriere, the assistant general manager, was...

Canadiens fire Jacques Martin; can Cunneyworth rescue season?

Guess Pierre Gauthier ran out of assistant coaches to sacrifice. From the Montreal Canadiens, eleventh place on Dec. 17 just isn't good enough: The Canadiens have announced that Jacques Martin has been relieved of this duties. Randy Cunneyworth is named interim head coach of the Montreal Canadiens until the end of the season. Larry Carrière becomes assistant coach. Canadiens...

Montreal Players Get The Message

from, When the players arrived at the Bell Centre for an early meeting on Saturday morning, it was about more than just Xs and Os. Before hitting the ice for their usual morning skate ahead of Saturday’s game against the Devils, the Habs received some surprising news from general manager Pierre Gauthier. Not happy with his team’s current 13-12-7 record, Gauthier...

PHT: Canadiens fire Martin

PHT: With the amount of talent in Montreal and the lack of performance we’ve seen, you have to wonder what took Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier so long to fire Jacques Martin.

Last-place Canadiens fire coach Martin (AP)

Hall of Famer Roy: 'I would listen if the Canadiens called'

Hall of Famer Patrick Roy has no qualms about listening to the Montreal Canadiens - or any other NHL club - should they wish to give him a call about a potential job opportunity. "Once the end of the season arrives and if a team shows some interest in me - Colorado or Montreal, for example - it's certain I would listen to see what kind of role I would have in the organization...
