Three things to watch:
1. Beasts of the East
The Blueshirts and Bruins sit atop the East and have shown most of the year that they are the top teams to beat in the conference. This is the second of four head-to-head meetings this season, not counting a possible series deep in the playoffs. John Tortorella’s gang just keeps winning, while Claude Julien’s club has been inconsistent after their dominant two-month stretch.
2. King Henrik
Henrik Lundqvist has just been sensational this year. Is he carrying the Rangers to their best regular season ever? Is he the Vezina front-runner? Is he a Hart candidate? Yes, yes and yes. ‘King Henrik’ has meant everything to the Rangers this season, as he has posted a 1.81 goals-against average and .939 save percentage – both on pace to become new career-highs. Additionally, he is 17-5-2 in his career against Boston.
3. Special teams battle
Boston’s power play has struggled of late, while the Rangers’ man advantage has struggled all year. Contrarily, both teams’ penalty kills are pretty solid. Given how good both are while skating at even strength, it’ll be interesting to see if either the Rangers or B’s can gain an advantage in special teams.

Final thought: Whenever these two meet up, it’s a close battle. Expect nothing to change tonight. I have a hunch the Bruins will win, but the Rangers are playing better. Flip a coin. Prediction: Bruins 2, Rangers 1 (OT)

The rest of today’s predictions:
Sabres over Devils
Blues over Blue Jackets
Senators over Lightning
Red Wings over Stars
Wild over Ducks
Blackhawks over Predators
Jets over Islanders
Flames over Maple Leafs

Worst +/- In The League

For much of the season Eric Staal has had the worst +/- rating in the league.  He no longer is the league worst.  He appears to be going in the right direction finally.  This leaves behind Milan Jurcina of the New York Islanders with the worst +/- in the league.  He is stuck at -23. Jurcina is not an offensive power.  He has only six points so far this season.  He has never...

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Montreal Canadiens 2/13/12 Scoring Chances

Before getting into the details, I just have to say that the Canes 5-3 win over the Canadiens last night was one of the best Carolina games I've seen this year. We have seen the Canes come back from a deficit before but what made this win feel so good was the play of Eric Staal. Carolina was constantly getting into penalty trouble and was down their leading goal-scorer for most...

Fantasy Hockey ONE (2/14)

A little talent goes a long way in the NHL.  We do try to respect that talent and on a day like Valentine's Day, maybe show a little more appreciation of the abilities of NHL players in the fantasy realm.  It is always fun to take a look at fantasy hockey this way. Now if you are up for something a little different in the fantasy realm.  We have a daily...
