There really is not too much to say regarding the New York Rangers’ 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. Yes, we can easily rehash Penguins’ defenseman Brooks Orpik’s hit on Derek Stepan and also what Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella had to say about it. With that said, it does not make sense to go over it again as we all know what was done and what was said and we all have an opinion on it. Instead, it is time to shift our focus to the last regular season game tomorrow night against the Washington Capitals. The Capitals managed to clinch a playoff spot last night with a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers and are just two points behind the Panthers for the top spot in the Southeast Division. The Capitals will play hard tomorrow night to try and clinch the division and home ice in the first round of the playoffs. This is a team that knows how to put the puck in the net, even though they have not done enough of that this season. Continue reading "Move On and Focus...

Rangers coach rips Pens organization

Head coach John Tortorella blasted the Penguins following a game between the teams, calling them "one of the most arrogant organizations in the league."

A look at the Brooks Orpik knee-on-knee hit on Derek Stepan

Well, anyone who watched the game last night saw that in the third period, with the Penguins well on their way to a victory, Derek Stepan carried the puck through the neutral zone, and was hit by Brooks Orpik. The hit was a knee-on-knee hit, and Stepan was down on the ice for a while before skating to the bench. Video is below: When watching the video, different angles show different...

NYR's Tortorella decries 'cheap, dirty hit'

New York Rangers coach John Tortorella not only questioned a late-game, knee-on-knee hit by Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik, but the fiery bench boss took it a few steps further Thursday night. Jan Levine: Game 81: PIT 5 NYR 2, Orpik Hit on Stepan Main (Only?) Conversation Topic

The final score and pretty much everything in the game has and is ovcershadowed by the hit by Brooks Orpik on Derek Stepan. Give Pittsburgh credit for winning and clinching second place while the Rangers came out flat and in showed in their performance. That prior sentence is pretty much all that has to be said about the game, though I will touch on a few things, as there were very...

Torts: Penguins One of the Most Arrogant Organizations in the League

I'm usually a big fan of Brooks Orpik as he is the exact type of defenseman the Rangers have been missing since Jeff Beukeboom, but after his knee-on-knee hit on Derek Stepan last night, I've lost a lot of respect for the guy... Hey Torts, how'd you feel about the hit? (watch here)..."It's a cheap dirty hit. I wonder what would have happened if we...

Tortorella Hit With $20,000 Fine

Twenty thousand? Well worth it. Okay, maybe New York Rangers head coach, John Tortorella, wasn't exactly channelling his inner Olaf Sanderson when he went on his tirade against the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, but he said what nearly everyone has been thinking. Either way, the NHL decided to slap the fiery, yet never dishonest, coach with a $20 thousand fine earlier today...

Confident New York Rangers Head To Pittsburgh

Securing a spot in the playoffs has been the New York Rangers’ ultimate regular season goal since the onset of the season; but, it’s how they are doing it that is so impressive and, perhaps, so vital in the end. Crosby Calls Out Callahan, Expects Torts to Apologize

War has been declared.  It was expected that the Pittsburgh Penguins would retaliate the first chance they got after Rangers head coach John Tortorella lashed out against them following last night's game, calling them an "arrogant" organization and referencing Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as "whining stars".  But the actual retaliation, which came...

Double Standard In Place?

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post, As If there had been any previous doubt, this week’s events demonstrated once and for all the Penguins are the NHL’s version of Made Men, not only untouchable but protected by the authorities against insult. Crosby Calls Callahan a Whiner?!?!?!?

In his post practice press conference today, Sidney Crosby said this about John Tortorella calling him a whiner..."I don't know what he's talking about. I mean, if you want you can put a camera on us all game, put a camera on (Ryan Callahan) all game. You'll see who's over there more. He should worry about his own players."...Is he effin kidding me?
