In hockey fights, there are winners and losers. Then there are the guys who get thrown out of the game and wreck everything in sight as they head to the locker room, come what may.
Ryan Hutchinson falls into the last category after a rough night at the rink last Sunday. The 17-year-old, a defenseman for the Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League, started a scuffle with some Erie Otters players after being checked from behind into the boards. Hutchinson and his teammates got into it with the Otters, and Hutchinson was given a fighting major, a game misconduct for instigating and a game misconduct for removing his helmet.
Hutchinson was not pleased as the official escorted him from the ice, so he did what any solid hockey player would. It started with Hutchinson kicking a loose helmet — which, in full harmony with how Hutchinson’s day was going, caused his feet to go out from under him, landing him on his rear end.
Hutchinson finally made it safely to the edge of the rink, and he grabbed hold of the nearest throwable object, a chair. That’s where Hutchinson’s luck got a tiny bit better. Two youngsters were walking by, but Hutchinson’s chair heave managed to miss them, capping his trail of rage and leaving the bystanders unscathed.
All in all, though, it’s a pretty entertaining tantrum.
