Don’t get me wrong, I like hockey. I miss the NHL and am beyond frustrated with the lockout. I’m all for fan statements against the league and against Gary Bettman, but in this instance I am not in support.

Xenia, Ohio, native and Pittsburgh Penguins fan Maggie Wagner is fed up with the lockout too and instead of becoming an NBA fan, she decided to grow out her leg hair until the NHL sorts this out.

Puck Daddy profiled Wagner today and her hairy idea came about back in September:

She started to wonder what small personal protest she could offer against the NHL shutting its doors. So on 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 15, Wagner vowed not to shave her legs until the players and owners cut a deal.

In theory it’s a great idea, a way to stick it to the NHL. But this photo disturbs me a bit:

Magner even tweeted the photo to the Predators Mike Fisher and the Kings Dustin Penner. To her credit, Fisher retweeted it moments later:

Impressive, but quotes like this from the Puck Daddy interview leave a sour taste in my mouth:

I will consider shaving the thickest part of my leg hair and sending it to (Gary Bettman) in the event of a cancelled season, yes. I’d have to get their address though!

Almost makes me feel bad for Bettman…almost. She just got the address so Bettman better keep an eye out for a hairy envelope if the most recent CBA proposal doesn't go as planned.

If you are an intern at the NHL League Offices this is your forewarning to quit before Bettman throws you on mail opening duties and you end up with a handful of leg hair.

  • Stupid! No dates for her! Or fun time either!

As for the NHL...to be honest...WHO CARES if they play or not? Sure doesn't seem to be a lot people out there who do. No big stunk being raised about the lack of games. what does that tell the NHL players and owners? OOPs!
  • what a psycho birch...that is just f'ing gross! and wrong on too many levels to even count! SMDH!!!
  • I am sick of hearing about the NHL. The only people that are suffering are the small businesses surrounding the arenas and the vendors.
I think that the cities should fine them for every game missed since we the taxpayers have helped build the stadiums.
Let's see how fast they settle then!
  • I WAS HOPEING THAT THE IDIOTS WOULD STAY OUT PERMANANTLY.As for her it can only help.
  • First I have heard of lockout in months.
  • Well, as long as she shaves a little higher, all is good...

  • I was hopeing they would stay out for ever.As for her it can only help her looks.
  • Learn how to spell, then come back to us.
  • The greed of the NHL has reached its zenith. It is time for fans to show the NHL that we will not stand for 3 lockouts in 3 decades, that our loyalty to the game of hockey is unconditional, but not to the National Hockey League. If you are fed up with being disrespected as a fan by this league, make your voice heard by joining the Hockey Fan Strike Guarantee on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/TheHockeyFanStrikeGuarantee. It is our money that makes the NHL successful, we need to show the major sporting organizations of the world that striking over who gets more of the dollars WE spend will no longer be tolerated!!
  • If they agree to a season the fans should unite and BOYCOTT the remaining games - sending a message to the owners and the players!
  • fans unite Boycott!!!
  • AT LEAST THE HAIR ON HER LEGS WILL MATCH HER MOUSTASH HAIR .............
  • Well if shaving or not shaving your hair turns you on go ahead but i dont think that will do a thing for the lockout. Oh I see you did it to seek attention. Well congralation you did it. Now try something with a brain. You may also want to send a sample of your hair to Mr. fehr it is only right tyhat both these parties are treated to the welcome present
  • A Pittsburgh fan... not at all surprising. From Ohio too. The only way to tell apart Ohio women from the cows on the farm is that the women wear aprons.
This will probably lead to male fans shaving their legs in protest... but then...in Pittsburgh... they are probably doing that anyway.
  • WHeew, What a great loss!! I'm sure the guy's were really knocking this skanks door down before!! Oh Right, she most likely DATES hockey loving guys too, so in between wiping the drool off there chins, and crying in the corner with their Wings jersey's on, they most likely don't notice old mastadon legs here!!
  • I think its a dumb idea but all you that are knocking her looks grow the F up.
  • Wookie Ki Yay Aye O!
  • I'm personally fed up with Bettman. This is the third time in three decades that we've had to deal with a lockout. Is anybody else tired of Bettmans' Blunders in handling player-owner relations? As of right now, I decree that I WILL NOT watch or follow anything to do with the NHL as long as Bettman is the president.
  • She will look like the yeti before it's over
  • Why are we giving this woman any attention? Because she says, "I'm doing something stupid and irrelevant, look at me!"??

Bettman Deserves Credit For Growing The Game In The USA

How Much Anger Will The Fans Show?

from Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe, Players and owners both know angry fans will return, because anger is a telltale sign of passion, commitment. Frankly, it’s that anger and passion that served as the co-enablers of this lockout. Gary Bettman and his brazen band of billionaires wouldn’t resort to shutting out the house lights so often if they truly feared fans...

Start Talking Hockey Again

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star, Only two things, it would seem, can stop the NHL from finally beginning its season sometime early in the new year. An act of God, something more definitive than that which the Mayan calendar produced last week. Or the sudden, forced departure of Gary Bettman at the hands of embittered hardliners in the NHL camp. Since neither...

NHL Lockout: Day 103

It’ s about that time we get some hockey going around here!   I have to admit the past few months a majority of my tweets from my twitter account had to deal with me cracking jokes about the current lockout the NHL is facing. The people I live with up at school and a good amount of my followers are die hard hockey fans, so I figured it would only be fitting for me to laugh about...

UFC’s Joe Rogan just became one of them after insisting UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey could beat boxer Floyd Mayweather  in a UFC-style bout.
