After a tough opening to the season, the Los Angeles Kings have begun looking very serious contenders in the NHL betting odds to repeat their Stanley Cup success from last year. Despite suffering what can only be described as a Stanley Cup hangover, the Kings have finally rediscovered their best form and have slowly begun climbing the Western Conference. A key reason behind the Kings recent good form has been the surprise emergence of Jake Muzzin. With Drew Doughty struggling and Matt Greene injured, the Kings’ needed someone to step up to the blue line; Muzzin has been that player. Coming into the season with just 11 NHL appearances to his name, and none since the 2010-2011 season, Muzzin has surprised many NHL betting news pundits by putting himself in Calder Trophy contention at the mid-point in the NHL season. The 24-year old has also been a solid offensive presence on defense. He has 11 points on the year, including five goals, and is a very good plus 12 on the season. He’s seen time on the first power play unit for the Kings as well, and not without success. What Muzzin brings to the line-up is the ability to move the puck quickly and make smart decisions at the same time. He gets the puck on the net, which opens up scoring opportunities, both for himself and for his teammates. Despite a number of high-profile stars on the blue line, Muzzin will feel confident that he has earned his place in the Kings line-up following his performances in the first half of this shortened NHL season. After initially arriving as an unrestricted free agent from the Pittsburgh Penguins, it now looks as though the Kings may have discovered an absolute gem in the shape of Muzzin. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fcuzoogle.com%2F2013%2F03%2F18%2Fmuzzin-continues-to-shine-for-kings%2F'; addthis_title = 'Muzzin+Continues+to+Shine+for+Kings'; addthis_pub = '';
