Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov turns 37 this season. A year ago he sat out most of the season after an unhappy stint in Russia’s KHL.He signed with the Red Wings as a free agent, but the Islanders claimed him on waivers. Nabokov refused to report, so the Isle retained his rights for this season.Grudgingly, Nabokov finally showed. The Islanders are happy he did, since has turned back the clock in recent weeks to play as well as he did for the San Jose Sharks back in the day.In December Nabokov was 3-3-0 with a 2.04 goals-against average and .930 save percentage. So far in January he is 5-3-0 with a 2.37 GAA and .911 save percentage.
