The Edmonton Oilers were just seconds away from suffering another home defeat, this time to the Los Angeles Kings. With just a few seconds left, though, one of the game’s best young players scored a game-changing goal to tie things up. That’s where things got got fun. No. 1 pick Nail Yakupov was able to bat the puck out of the air past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick to make it 1-1 with just 4.7 seconds to play. Understandably, Yakupov was all kinds of jacked and pumped. The Russian youngster went berserk, taking off in a mad dash down the ice. After a few strides, he decided to channel his inner-Theo Fleury (this, of course), sliding down the ice — all the way back to his own end — on his knees. The party didn’t end there. Sam Gagner would eventually pot the game-winner in overtime, setting off another celebration, albeit a little more subdued. Check out Yakupov’s goal and celebration in the video below.

Is Nail Yakupov’s goal celebration over the top?

Check out this goal by Edmonton Oilers rookie forward Nail Yakupov. There is a school of thought that the NHL is starting to look like the European soccer leagues with some of the over the top celebrations of the players after they score a goal. I don't know what to think... I don't like showing up an opponent. I get it the kid is excited as well. Alexander Ovechkin...

Was Yakupov's Celebration Too Much...???

((HT: Sportsnet.ca)) Here's the question of the day...??? Was the goal celebration of Edmonton Oilers rookie Nail Yakupov not enough, just enough, or too much...??? Considering it was a game-tying goal and not a game-winner... considering he's a rookie fresh off the Draft... Considering all of that stuff... The "Hockey Central" folks discuss... ...

Yakupov ties it, Gagner wins it - Oilers vs. Kings

Games like these are the reason I love hockey. After Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had his tying goal taken away from him with 1:05 remaining in the third, which also sparked the fans to chant "Bull Sh*t" and throw a Boston Pizza box onto the ice, the Oilers weren't going to give up, even if they were facing the defending Stanley Cup champions. With only four seconds remaining...

The Edmonton Oilers still haven't led in 2012-13. They're hoping to change that Monday night when they open the season series with the Colorado Avalanche, who are still looking for their first road win.
