Gustav Nyquist has been recalled to take his place on the roster.Nyquist has played in one game this season for Detroit while they were in their slump. It will be interesting to see what he can do while the team is playing more sound hockey. He currently leads the Griffins in scoring with 30 points in 30 games (9 G, 21 A)Also of note, his family just arrived in Grand Rapids to see him play, they will now get an even better treat heading to Chicago to see him play with the WingsAs much as I like Nyquist let's hope Helm heals up quick. It's too bad, I was hoping to see Helm school the Hawks again with his one-man PK. This is going to be a tough game especially with the inexperienced Andersson and Nyquist in the mixLGRW!Chicago Sucks!

from Michael Zuidema of the Grand Rapids Press, Gustav Nyquist’s family got a nice surprise when they arrived at Grand Rapids Griffins practice on Thursday afternoon at Van Andel Arena.
The rookie forward had just been recalled by the parent club Detroit Red Wings. He’ll join the team in Chicago for Friday night’s game and should fill in for Darren Helm, who is nursing a groin...
Helm is day-to-day with a groin injury that got worse when he practiced Thursday. He stayed off the ice this morning at the United Center, where the Wings take on the Blackhawks for the first time this season tonight.
How has “Hockeytown U.S.A.” never hosted a NHL Winter Classic? The Detroit Red Wings are one of the game’s most legendary brands and franchises. With the exception of the Montreal Canadiens, no team has a richer history and more iconic logo on their sweater.
Of course, Montreal hasn’t hosted the game either, but first things first. The Wings have the perfect venue with a...

The Detroit Red Wings fell into bad habits and found themselves paying for earned breaks on Friday, dropping a 3-2 decision to Chicago…And the Wings’ lack of discipline came to bite ‘em in the ass, repeatedly, but the Wings didn’t seem to be willing or able to learn from their mistakes, nor curry favor with the referees.
Don’t get me wrong—the Wings were terribly, terribly...
For a while in the second period of Tuesday's 3-2 victory over St. Louis, the Red Wings looked lost. Goaltender Jimmy Howard misplayed the puck and passed it to the Blues -- twice -- while the Wings were on the power play.
EDMONTON, AB -- Czech goaltender and Detroit Red Wings prospect Petr Mrazek had a show-stopping performance turning aside 52 shots to help the Czechs to a 5-2 victory to stun the Americans 5-2 at Rexall Place in Edmonton...
Mursak, 23, has been on injured reserve since fracturing his ankle during an exhibition against the Chicago Blackhawks in September.
A fight, a few goals and a festive atmosphere. The Red Wings and Blackhawks clearly shouldn't go so many months without seeing one another. The teams reignited their rivalry Friday night at United Center in a game that matched talented offense against explosive offense, stingy defense against a solid one.
DET (23-12-1) visit CHI (23-10-4) in the first of their six meetings this season. The ‘Hawks are tied with VAN for the most points in the league (50), the Wings have 47 and a game in hand. CHI enter this game 13-3-3 at the United Center (best in league home record) but had a season-best five-game home win streak snapped Wednesday with a 2-0 loss to Los Angeles. CHI has scored...
