This morning on Twitter, Jim Cerny of nyrangers.com was asked about the possibility of Rick Nash wearing a letter this season, and he responded by saying he expects the Rangers leadership to remain the same.Nash was the captain for the Blue Jackets.Ryan Callahan is the captain (Duh), while Brad Richards and Marc Staal are the alternates.Dan Girardi wore an "A" while Staal was sidelines with post concussion symptoms during the first half of last season....no way Torts is changing leadership. That's not the way he rolls. Just look at last year. He could have easily left Girardi as alternate captain once Staal came back, but there Staal was wearing the "A" in the Winter Classic....a player doesn't have to wear a letter to be a leader on the team and I think Nash will definitely do his part on the ice and in the locker room.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.

With three top penalty killers gone, who will step in?

No doubt about it, the Rangers have had some serious roster turnover this season, especially among the bottom six forwards. Gone are Brandon Prust, John Mitchell, Ruslan Fedotenko, Artem Anisimov, and Brandon Dubinsky. In are Arron Asham, Taylor Pyatt, Jeff Halpern, and possibly Michael Haley (at least to start the season while Marian Gaborik is out). While the Rangers will surely...

Skjei Impresses on Final Day of USA Junior Evaluation Camp

While Team USA lost its final exhibition game of evaluation camp to Finland 3-2, Rangers 2012 first round pick Brady Skjei impressed (via United States of Hockey)..."I thought Skjei was Team USA's best defenseman today, away from the shadow of former U18 teammates Seth Jones and Jacob Trouba. Skjei was his normal, slick-skating self, but showed even better puck-moving skills...

Marian Gaborik’s Poor Puck Possession

When I listed worst 20 players by team and zone adjusted Corsi ratings in 2011/12 there were three name players on the list in Mike Richards, Jarome Iginla and Marian Gaborik.  Today I will look at the case of Gaborik.  Marian Gaborik was the top scorer on the New York Rangers with 76 points.  In fact he was the fifteenth highest scorer in the NHL.  He did this playing an...

How much is too much?

James Dolan (MSG Network) When it comes to the current labor negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA; I have to admit that I am kind of dumbstruck when somebody says "I can't take the player's side because they make too much money." Yet when you ask people to decide "How much is too much?" that they don't have an answer other than the "they...

Three Thumbs Up

J.T. Miller (USA Hockey) Boy if you are a New York Ranger fan then you really have to be happy with the performances that the 3 Ranger prospects put on during the USA Hockey Summer Evaluation Camp this past week. J.T. Miller (2011 1st), Brady Skjei (2012 1st), and Steven Fogarty (2011 3rd) may not have "stolen the show" but put on steady enough performances that strengthened...

Spector: Nash Will Not Equal Dubinsky/Anisimov Combined Point Total

Jesse Spector at the Sporting News tries to predict Rick Nash's point total in comparison to the combined points of Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov..."However the Rangers draw it up, Nash should have plenty of points, probably more than the 59 he got last season (assuming that it's a full season). Dubinsky and Anisimov, in down years, combined for 70 points last...
