A Saturday night in Nashville may have been just what the Predators needed to light the proverbial fire underneath them.

In front of a sold-out Bridgestone Arena and a Canadian national audience on Hockey Night in Canada, the Nashville Predators got back to their winning ways with a solid 3-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets.

With Alexander Radulov playing his first home game in Nashville in 4 years, the spotlight still seemed to be on the dynamic Russian forward. However, while he did have assist on the first goal of the game, the story was more on the Predators supporting cast leading the way collecting both of Nashville’s goals in tonight’s win against Winnipeg.

After a scoreless first period that saw Radulov set up Hornqvist for a point blank chance that was denied by Pavelec, Nashville’s third and fourth lines turned on their afterburners and deposit two goals to give Nashville a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Alex Radulov would send a beautiful no-look pass over to Matt Halischuk of whizzed one past the shoulder of Pavelec for a 1-0 lead at 2:56 of the second. Nick Spaling would fire a shot that would be stopped, yet Gabriel Bourque was there to chip it in to make it 2-0 at 10:01 of the second.

While Rinne’s shutout bid was ended with Tim Stapleton scoring at 12:53 of the third period, the Predators held on and grabbed a empty-net powerplay goal at 19:50 of the final frame to make the final score 3-1 and give Nashville a huge 2 points.

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 1 for 4, 25%
Penalty Kill – 1 for 1, 100%

My Three Stars:

#1: – Pekka Rinne – 24 saves on 25 shots, .960 Sv%
#2: – Alex Radulov – 1 assist, +1, 20:29 TOI
#3: – Paul Gaustad – +1, 12 and 8 in the faceoff dot (60%)
