Skjei, Hellburg Sent Down; Steven McDonald Award Voting Open

OFFICIAL: #NYR have assigned defenseman Brady Skjei and goaltender Magnus Hellberg to @WolfPackAHL. — New York Rangers (@NYRangers) March 9, 2016 Want to make note here that these are paper moves by Gorton when it comes to managing (legal circumvention) the cap. So while Lundqvist,  Marc Staal and quite possibly Nash are returning this weekend, this doesn’t necessarily guarantee it...

Rangers return Brady Skjei to Hartford

The Rangers have returned Brady Skjei to Hartford, which was an expected move following last night’s game. Skjei was an emergency call up to replace Marc Staal, and played 22 minutes in last night’s loss. The ice time was indicative of Skjei’s play, as he had a very strong game, including significant time on the […] The post Rangers return Brady Skjei to Hartford appeared...

Minnesota Wild claim Jarret Stoll

Today it was announced that Jarret Stoll was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Wild. The New York Rangers placed him on waivers so they could call up defensemen Brady Skjei, a young promising defenseman. The claim is interesting because apparently a couple of teams put in claims for the veteran center. This asks the question, why wouldn’t the Rangers trade the center if there...

Brady Skjei joins Hartford on Amateur Tryout

Brady Skjei, the New York Rangers first round pick in 2012, has signed an amateur tryout (ATO) with the Hartford Wolfpack. Skeji will join the Pack for the rest of the regular season and playoffs. The Rangers have wanted Skjei to turn pro, and this appears to be the first step in the process. The post Brady Skjei joins Hartford on Amateur Tryout appeared first on Blue Seat Blogs.

Brady Skjei Decision Looming

I know I haven’t covered Ranger prospects on the blog a ton since taking over, but news about the Rangers 2012 first rounder has surfaced. Brady Skjei’s University of Minnesota team were beaten by Minnesota-Duluth at the NCAA regional semis last Thursday. Skjei finished the season with a goal and 9 assists in 33 games for his junior campaign with the Golden Gophers. Similar...

HF: Skjei tops Rangers prospects

Leslie Treff at Hockey’s Future has updated her prospect rankings, and Brady Skjei has taken over the top of the list. That is different from Corey Pronman’s rankings, that had Pavel Buchnevich as the top prospect in the system (Skjei was ranked #4). Treff noted that Skjei has found some offensive upside in his game, […] The post HF: Skjei tops Rangers prospects appeared first...

Quick notes: Skjei returning to NCAA; No “real” offer made to Stralman

Some quick notes (before I head off to Aruba…yea, be jealous) about the prospects, free agency, and those who left the Rangers. Brady Skjei, who by all accounts appears to be NHL ready, will be returning to the University of Minnesota for his junior year. Skjei is a first pairing defenseman with the club, and […] The post Quick notes: Skjei returning to NCAA; No “real” offer...
