New York Rangers: Skjei shouldn’t have been cut yet

The New York Rangers have continued cutting down their roster, including highly-touted defensive prospect Brady Skjei. He, Dylan Mcilrath and Raphael Diaz have been competing for the seventh defenseman spot, and now it’s down to just Mcilrath and Diaz. He couldn’t have been because of his play, as he was incredibly solid in the days that he was with the team. He looked incredibly...

Skjei among Rangers cuts, roster down to 25

The Rangers have announced their next round of cuts, trimming the roster to 25 players. Brady Skjei highlights the cuts, and while he likely deserves to have a bit of a longer look, the fact that he is waiver exempt meant he was going to Hartford from the start barring a ridiculous camp. Others cut […]

Rangers 3, Boston 4 (SO)

The Rangers dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Bruins on Thursday night. For a box score, click here. Not important the Rangers blew a 2 goal lead in the third. Hank plays all 3 periods and they probably win anyway. Lundqvist probably wouldn’t agree with this assessment, but he already appears in midseason form. Like Oscar Lindberg on Tuesday, Brady Skjei is making a case for...

Brady Skjei joins Hartford on Amateur Tryout

Brady Skjei, the New York Rangers first round pick in 2012, has signed an amateur tryout (ATO) with the Hartford Wolfpack. Skeji will join the Pack for the rest of the regular season and playoffs. The Rangers have wanted Skjei to turn pro, and this appears to be the first step in the process. The post Brady Skjei joins Hartford on Amateur Tryout appeared first on Blue Seat Blogs.

HF: Skjei tops Rangers prospects

Leslie Treff at Hockey’s Future has updated her prospect rankings, and Brady Skjei has taken over the top of the list. That is different from Corey Pronman’s rankings, that had Pavel Buchnevich as the top prospect in the system (Skjei was ranked #4). Treff noted that Skjei has found some offensive upside in his game, […] The post HF: Skjei tops Rangers prospects appeared first...

Quick notes: Skjei returning to NCAA; No “real” offer made to Stralman

Some quick notes (before I head off to Aruba…yea, be jealous) about the prospects, free agency, and those who left the Rangers. Brady Skjei, who by all accounts appears to be NHL ready, will be returning to the University of Minnesota for his junior year. Skjei is a first pairing defenseman with the club, and […] The post Quick notes: Skjei returning to NCAA; No “real” offer...
