The Predators management has put Brian McGrattan on waivers today. He was recently sent to Milwaukee on a conditionning assignment, which meant he got to avoid waivers. However after two week (the maximum length of a conditioning assignment) the Predators are willing to leave him in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future.
This summer the loss of Jordin Tootoo might have given McGrattan hope for some playing time on the top team, but the acquisition of Richard Clune quickly rained on that parade. Clune has played McGrattan's role of fourth line enforcer quite well, leaving the Predators with little choice on McGrattan. Even as injuries worsened for the team, Trotz dressed Halischuck and even seven defenseman in lieu of McGratten.
McGrattan is 31 and has played 30 games with the Preds since being picked up on waivers from Anaheim in October 2011. In that time he has no goals and 2 assists.
