One of the best defenses in the NHL got a little stronger on Sunday night as the Nashville Predators traded for left-shot defenseman Jeremy Lauzon. A Predators team that already employs left-shot studs Roman Josi and Mattias Ekholm, the Predators are adding a depth guy to their lineup.

Just 24 years old, Lauzon is a 6-foot-1, 204-pound defenseman with six points in 53 games this season. He will be an arbitration-eligible RFA at the end of this season.

He’s physical and has no problem dropping the gloves. He’s got 67 penalty minutes this season. He was a second-round pick of the Boston Bruins in (52nd overall).

It’s not clear what the return is from the Predators but one would have to imagine it’s a late-round pick. Lauzon is a $850K cap hit.
