When the Nashville Predators square off against the Phoenix Coyotes in round two of the Western Conference playoffs it will make hardly a dent in the crowded North American sports scene, but it will certainly cause some self-satisfied smirks in the NHL front office….
So a team with an official — but no real — owner makes it to the final eight, helping the Western Conference become a publicity brochure for what is now little more than a niche group in professional hockey circles: Still-Believers in the Sun Belt.
Los Angeles, St. Louis, Nashville, Phoenix. Hockey with a tan and a drawl.
The Preds and ’Yotes raise no interest, beyond prurient, and the Kings and Blues have no playoff history since 1969, the second year of expansion, when the Blues swept the Kings to reach their second straight Cup final where they were once again sacrificed to the Montreal Canadiens.

With just over 48 hours until the puck drops on round number two, the Nashville Predators and Phoenix Coyotes have announced the first part of their series.
As the Coyotes are seeded #3 in the West, they will have home ice advantage and kick off the series in Glendale, Arizona. The clubs will then head to Music City for two games inside Bridgestone Arena.

Over the last 3 seasons my son & I have a United Center game attendance record of 9 - 1. The one loss was to the Phoenix Coyotes a couple seasons ago. The Yotes, with yesterday’s victory, came in this season & post season and won 5 games straight at the U. C. That’s all you need to know.
