Nathan Horton‘s two seasons in Boston have both been cut short because of concussions, but fortunately, he’ll be ready to roll when the Bruins drop the puck on this year’s shortened season. Horton’s agent, Paul Krepelka, reportedly told WEEI.com that the forward will return to Boston “in the next few days.” The hope is that Horton could potentially skate with his teammates prior to training camp. “He is healthy and ready to start the season,” Krepelka reportedly wrote in an E-mail to WEEI.com. Horton played in just 46 games last season as a result of a concussion he suffered on a hit from Flyers winger Tom Sestito on Jan. 22. In those 46 games, Horton had 17-15-32 totals, showing just how important he is to Boston’s offensive consistency. There was plenty of concern following Horton’s concussion, especially given the severity of the concussion he suffered during the Stanley Cup the previous season. The 27-year-old has obviously progressed nicely, though, and he was cleared for contact over the summer, although he opted not to play overseas during the NHL lockout. With his injury in the rear-view mirror, Horton figures to be a big factor for the Black and Gold this season.
