After an extended absence, I have decided to resume writing for getmethebrandy.com as the season approaches. I will be blogging about the new members of the Pittsburgh Penguins and its affiliates. This will be a recurring feature on the site right up until the puck drops on the 2009-2010 season. The subject of the first entry? New assistant coach Tony Granato.
The Penguins signed Granato on August 5, 2009, to take over the duties of former assistant Tom Fitzgerald, who accepted a position as Assistant to the General Manager. Granato, 45, played a total of 13 NHL seasons with New York, Los Angeles, and San Jose, winning the Bill Masterson Trophy in 1997, and also spent six years with the Colorado Avalanche organization, including two stints as head coach. This signing seems to come as a direct result of the Stanley Cup run this past spring.
