A temporary solution to meet the league required 23-maximum player roster, New Jersey Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello bought himself some extra time by placing Patrik Elias on the Injured Reserve list and Mattias Tedenby on the non-roster Injured Reserves in order to get under the league required 23-maximum player roster Monday evening.
The move gives Lamoriello a couple of days to get his roster set before the Devils begin their season at the Consol Energy Center against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but however it plays out it might be a good sign for defenseman Adam Larsson.

Larsson, the Devils first round draft pick in 2011 has been in and out of the lineup quite a bit over the last few seasons but may have a shot at planting his feet on the Devils blue line permanently.
Right now the Devils are carrying eight defenseman and could have easily shed Larsson from the equation by sending him to their AHL affiliate in Albany, ...
