NHL bets: Three team totals to track tonight

We won a hockey bet yesterday, a feeling we'd like to replicate this evening on a packed NHL night. There are quite a few intriguing spots tonight, and we're removing the player prop element from our reads and simply looking to a trio of teams to succeed in scoring.

Detroit over 3.5 goals (+130 FanDuel)

Hard to pass up this price on Detroit at home, the Red Wings are absolutely rolling right now. Detroit has won six straight games, averaging 4.67 goals per game during this streak. That's a team I want to back, especially against the Islanders who really don't scare me much.

New York is allowing 3.6 goals per game on the road over the past 45 days, and they've let up 4+ goals in four of their last five. The Islanders also sport the league's worst penalty kill this last month, a problem area that Detroit can exploit, as the Red Wings' 27.6% PP scoring rate sits as the seventh-best mark in the NHL of late.

There's a lot to like here on the Detroit end, and they beat the Islanders 4-3 in the first meeting between these teams this season. By all means, consider the Red Wings moneyline at -115 or a combo prop like Patrick Kane/Alex DeBrincat points, I'll just go here to goals at +130.

Florida over 3.5 goals & Minnesota over 2.5 goals (+165 Fanatics)

Similarly to Detroit, both teams here showed up with a power-play edge, which is just the cherry on top of reads that already looked strong to me. Florida has the second-best power-play scoring rate while Montreal's PK is 11th-worst over the last 30 days, and Minnesota owns the sixth-best PP rate and Nashville's PK sits at seventh-worst.

That's all well and good and gives me confidence we see goals on any man-up chances, but the simple numbers support these two teams hitting this scoring thresholds.

The Panthers are facing a Canadiens team allowing 4.6 goals per game on the road over the last month and a half, and wow has Florida loved facing Montreal. They've poured on 4+ goals in six straight meetings and 10 of the last 11, with a lot of 5+ goal performances sprinkled in there.

As for the Wild, they're averaging 4.0 goals per game on the road in the last 45 days, the same number of goals Nashville is giving up at home in that stretch. The Preds have been better lately, on a nice winning streak, but I like the value here in Minnesota finding at least three goals, something they've done in three of the past four meetings.

Good luck tonight, let's build some momentum in the NHL market!
