Boston Sports Then & Now:
Are you kidding me with this ad? Let’s start the season now, I mean tonight. Drop the puck. bit.ly/X3NLhg

Dan Rosen, I COMPLETELY agree. This video is an INSULT to the intelligence of hockey fans.
“They want the game to MEAN something. They want the game to MATTER.”
HAHA…that’s HILARIOUS. The NHL is promoting something they don’t even believe or care about.
Then NHL owners like those of the Chicago Blackhawks post form letters (probably from the LAST lockout) to their fans:
(SCREEN CAP: Chicago Blackhawks)
PATIENCE & LOYALTY?!?
Are these guys kidding me?
Where is the LOYALTY to their fans? Their customers!
OH YEAH, loyalty only works one way in their eyes.
Other teams around the league are trying to make GOOD with the fans where it counts….their WALLETS.
#Preds are pulling out the stops for STHs. #Pens giving discounts & free concessions. What else are other teams doing?

The Bruins players, and their fans, are ready for Saturday night’s season opener
The Bruins got back on the ice Tuesday night as they faced off against the Providence Bruins in the Garden. Personally, my expectations were not high for this scrimmage, seeing as how the Bruins haven’t played an actual game together in over half a year. That, along with the fact that these are scrimmages...
Tuukka needs to step his game up this year for the Bruins to succeed
The Boston Bruins fell to the Providence Bruins 7-5 in their Training Camp scrimmage at the TD Garden on Tuesday Night in front of a sold out crowd.
Granted it was only a scrimmage, and granted it was the first time the Boston Bruins have played organized hockey together since May, as expected there were some...
Nathan Horton has had to deal with concussion problems each of the last two seasons, but the Bruins forward is back and ready to make an impact.
Horton, who is now symptom free, returned to the ice for Bruins practice, and he said he’s feeling “really good” despite the long layoff. That’s good news for B’s fans, as Horton figures to play a crucial role in Boston’s attempt...
After a long wait for the NHL lockout to come to a conclusion, the Bruins’ season is finally starting on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.
You can get ready for the action starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday with Bruins Face-Off Live. NESN will get you prepared with everything you may have missed during the long offseason, plus everything you’ll have to look forward to during the Bruins’ 48...
The Bruins 2011 first round draft pick (9th overall) Dougie Hamilton appears ready for the NHL and will be given the opportunity to play for the B’s this year. The 6’5 200 pound youngster is receiving high praise from the likes of GM Peter Chiarelli and Captain Zdeno Chara.
Chiarelli had mentioned before the lockout even began that he expected Hamilton to be in uniform for...
Two of the biggest Bruins question marks heading into the season also happen to be two of the team’s biggest exclamation points.
Adam McQuaid (blood clot) and Nathan Horton (concussions) are skating into the shortened 2013 campaign with all eyes watching their every move. There’s no telling how each player will come out of the gates, but if they shoot out like Bruins fans know...
The Boston Bruins are well rested and had more players overseas than anyone else in the NHL. So they're well positioned for what should be a sprint of a season following the NHL's 119-day lockout.
When the lockout finally ended Saturday, the league announced a busy 48-game schedule beginning Saturday January 19. The Bruins and most other teams opened their shortened training...
If the NHL is the bad spouse and hockey fans are the jilted lover, it will take a lot of chocolate and roses to make up for the pain of a months-long lockout.
The Bruins are trying to do their part, although not with confectionary goodies. Instead, Bruins fans coming to home games in January can expect to see free concession vouchers, discounts and giveaways galore.
The Bruins announced...
There has been a lot of talk about how players are going to handle the 48-game slate this season. But while some might find the adjustment to be difficult, there is a good chance that David Krejci will hit the ground running.
Krejci is undoubtedly one of the more talented players on the Bruins’ roster, but consistency has sometimes been a concern. The B’s center typically elevates...
Tonight, for the first time in nearly 12 months, Nathan Horton will strap on his pads, pull on his Bruins jersey and head out onto the TD Garden ice for a game without any health limitations. Sure, it’s only an exhibition game versus the Providence Bruins, but it’s a start.
It’s been almost a full calendar year since Horton suffered his second concussion in a seven-month span...
The NHL season officially begins Jan. 19. But if you can’t wait that long for Bruins hockey, there’s good news.
The Bruins are opening training camp starting Sunday at TD Garden, with a 1 p.m. on-ice session free and open to the public. Fans can come at noon, and free parking is available in the North Station garage from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Bruins will also be offering a fan...
The good news keeps on coming.
Not only will there be hockey this year, but it’s also looking like the Bruins won’t have to start the season without bruising defenseman Adam McQuaid after all.
McQuaid, who underwent blood clot surgery earlier this offseason, was believed to be in jeopardy of missing some time to begin the season. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said McQuaid...
The Black and Gold kick things off tonight at the Garden with their annual inter-squad scrimmage. The Bruins printed 17,565 free tickets and all were claimed by 1:30 on Monday. The game will feature the entire Bruins roster as well as players from the Providence Bruins of the AHL.
With the season starting on Saturday teams will not have the opportunity to play any real pre-season...
Tonight's game between the Providence Bruins and Boston Bruins didn't mean anything.
In fact, they had to call it the "Black & Gold Intersquad Scrimmage" to avoid it breaking some sort of NHL-AHL rule. It was a pointless contest meant to shake the rust of a three-month plus lockout off the skates, but it instead raised some questions regarding the strength...
The Bruins’ season gets underway on Saturday, and plenty has been said about the importance of each game during the shortened season. However, with the B’s set to compete in one of the toughest divisions in the NHL, games against division opponents will be especially key during the 48-game slate.
Last season, Boston rolled to its second straight Northeast Division crown, clearing...
