According to TSN.ca, the NHL has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere three games for a cross-check he gave to Frans Nielson on Saturday night. The incident occurred during the final minute of the Flyers’ 6-1 victory of the New York Islanders. Briere cross-checked Nielson following an offensive zone face-off, which led Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro to go after Briere. Briere received a five-minute major for cross-checking, as well as a 10-minute misconduct on the play. He said after the game he was not happy with the way the Islanders were handling the loss. “When you get embarrassed like that, there’s lots of frustration,” Briere said. “They didn’t like that and had to respond some way, somehow. They did it with their fists.” This is Briere’s third suspension in his 12-season NHL career. In 11 games this season, the 33-year-old has scored six goals and two assists while going plus-3. **Follow Lukas on Twitt...
