Found October 04, 2012 on Philly Sports Live:
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise, but the NHL just announced that they will be scrapping all regular season games from October 11th to October 24th.  The League resumed talks with the NHLPA last Friday as well as this past Monday, but were said to have gone nowhere.  With the cancellation, a total of 82 games, including four that would have been played next Thursday on not-opening night, have been thrown out the door, with no word on whether they will be made up or not.  If those games never end up being played, it will cost the NHL upwards of $120 Million dollars in lost salary. Despite the fact that the two sides are talking, it doesn’t mean a whole lot as almost no progress has been made on just how to split up a total of $3 Billion dollars in hockey revenue.  With the lack of progress, many players have signed up to play in leagues over in Russia and Germany.  Philly’s own Claude Giroux and Danny Briere just added their names to that list, signing with Berlin side, Eisbaren...

Danny Briere and Claude Giroux Headed Overseas

As reported today by several Flyers beat writers, Danny Briere and Claude Giroux will be heading overseas.  Comcast Sportsnet Tim Panaccio reported that the Flyers stars will be playing in Berlin.  It sounds like they wil be playing for Eisbären Berlin.  With the lockout, Briere and Giroux now make it 7 total players who are playing overseas. Later this afternoon, the NHL is...

Briere and Giroux sign with Eisbaren Berlin of the DEL

It has been reported that Danny Briere and Claude Giroux have signed with Eisbaren Berlin out of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Germany. It has not been confirmed yet on when they will arrive to play in Berlin. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as I thought Giroux might end up going to the KHL, or go and play for HC Kladno in the Czech league. HC Kladno is the team that...

The Real Lockout Begins, NHL Cut First Two Weeks

When we mentioned earlier today that Danny Briere and Claude Giroux would be heading overseas, we knew the NHL would announce the cancellation of regular season games.  The National Hockey League has officially announced the cancellation of all games between October 11th through October 24th.  The cancellation includes four Flyers games, the home opener against the Boston Bruins...

If it wasn’t real before, it is now. News trickled out that post season star Danny Briere, as well as Philly man crush Claude Giroux has both signed with Eisbären Berlin of Germany’s DEL league.   If this doesn’t mean […]
