Boston Sports Then & Now:
As the NHL Lockout DRAGS ON & ON, Bruins fans need to fill that hole in their hockey souls. And we are here to HELP…NO GREED…NO Bettman….NO Fehr….NO PROPAGANDA.
We are ALL about the fans of the GREATEST game on Earth!
In this series, BST&N will look back at some NHL Lockout PROOF memories which will hopefully raise your spirits during this hockey ABYSS we find ourselves in YET again.
Enjoy, keep CALM & try to SURVIVE the Lockout.
I was having major Bruins WITHDRAWALS. I couldn’t read about Seguin tearing it up in the Swiss League or hear the NHL & NHLPA made “NO PROGRESS” after FOUR days of talks.
I needed to fill my head with hockey HAPPY thoughts so I popped in the Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup DVD. Even 1 1/2 years later, I STILL get chills watching Nathan Horton pot OT after OT goal, Tyler Seguin coming into his own against Tampa and my favorite team raising the HOLY hockey chalice above their heads.
Man tears rolled down my face and I am secure enough to admit it.
However, one part of the DVD that may go unnoticed or merely forgotten is from the Bruins Stanley Cup Parade in the Duck boats on that picture perfect June day.
The GINORMOUS CHARA Head….
The GINORMOUS Chara Head Is A NHL Lockout Proof Memory….
The “Chara Head” encapsulated Z’s face totally engulfed with EMOTION as became a Stanley Cup Champion…..
Is a NHL Lockout PROOF memory….NO ONE can steal this memory from us EVER. Not the NHL owners, GREEDY Gary Bettman or the NHLPA.
As fans during this TOUGH time, we always have the MEMORIES, but we are just DAMN HUNGRY to create NEW ones.
END THE LOCKOUT NOW!

from Ian Mendes of Sportsnet,
As for those media members who are suggesting that his presence tonight will be a major distraction, I have a simple question for you: Who controls the stories that are published on a daily basis?
Last time I checked, those of us in the mainstream media dictate the major hockey stories of the day.
So what if we decided that for the next...

With the NHL locked out, Boston Bruins star Tyler Seguin signed with EHC Biel in the Swiss National League and so far the signing has paid dividends. In just fifteen games with his new club, Seguin has recorded thirteen goals and ten assists, but his numbers truly exploded when Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane joined [...]
A fourth straight day of NHL labor talks failed to bring the league and its locked-out players any closer to a deal that would put hockey back on the ice and save the season.
In fact, the gap between the fighting factions might have gotten even wider on a failed Friday.
After three consecutive seemingly positive days of talks this week, discussions turned a bit sour when negotiations...
Lockout Update: Four days of consecutive talks, WOW!! Is a brink coming or has the National Hockey league given up on all the lost revenue. The NHL is finally letting the players speak. Gary Bettman has led the NHL to three lockouts in18 years. Is it all entirely Mr. Bettmans fault? What’s more soothing then

A new collective bargaining agreement wasn't going to be reached on Thursday. And, after talks adjourned beyond the five-hour mark, commissioner Gary Bettman expressed just how much ground still needed to be covered.
There's good news, though -- plenty of it. In just two weeks, the NHL's offered to absorb all of the make...
from Scott Burnside of ESPN,
Neither NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman nor NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr has distinguished himself thus far in terms of charting a course to a successful resolution to the current lockout of the NHL’s players.
Strategies on both sides have been at best curious and at worst deeply flawed.
Another day, another marathon bargaining meeting.
The owners and players met Thursday for approximately five hours. The meeting ended at approximately 6 p.m.
The two groups have agreed to meet again Friday.
Seven hours on talks on Tuesday. Six hours on Wednesday. Eighteen hours of discussions this week. More to come.
After today's session, Gary Bettman said that...
The best that can be said about the ongoing NHL labor negotiations is that they are still going, and will continue for at least a fourth straight day.
The league and the locked-out players' association got back together Thursday and accomplished enough over five-plus hours to make plans to meet again Friday.
''I am not going to discuss the negotiations or the substance...

So if you can't find it in your heart to bring back the game for the sake of the millions worldwide who will throw money into your coffers, consider doing it for the real fans.
