According to TSN, the St.Louis Blues have officially signed winger Marek Svatos to a one-year contract. The Blues are in need of extra scoring, and Svatos, a former Colorado Avalanche forward, was the best option remaining in free agency. Marek Svatos was a free agent over the summer of 2010, and many reports indicated that very few teams had attempted to sign him. The St.Louis Blues being one of those teams, as were the Los Angeles Kings, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
With the lack of interest from NHL teams, Svatos, 28, was forced to sign with the KHL team Omsk Avangard. In 19 games with Omsk, Svatos tallied three goals and five assists, for a disappointing eight points. But nevertheless, the Blues have signed the one-time 30-goal scorer to a one-year contract.
