Best Athletes By The Numbers:
Alexei Yashin, the center out of the Soviet Union, was drafted by the Ottawa Senators with the second overall pick in the 1992 NHL draft. When Yashin was given a chance to play full-time during the 1993-94 NHL season, he made an immediate impact, scoring 79 points in his rookie season.
Yashin would continue to be an offensive force for the Senators over the years, with his high-water mark in scoring coming during the 1998-99 NHL season. He would score 94 points in that campaign (44 goals and 50 assists).
After seven stellar years in Ottawa, Yashin was sent to Long Island, NY to play with the Islanders in 2001.

Yashin was a key offensive contributor for the Isles, albeit not to the level that he produced in Ottawa. His effort was strong enough to lead the Isles to the playoffs in his first year with the team, where he would score 7 points in 7 games.
Yashin would spend five seasons with the Islanders, contributing a good portion of their scoring over that time span. For his NHL career through 2006-07, Yashin totalled 781 regular season points (337 goals and 444 assists).
Did you know.......................Yashin was a captain for both the Senators and the Islanders?
