It sounded as if Sidney Crosby would not play in Europe unless the current NHL Lockout cancelled the entire 2012-2013 NHL season, but it now sounds as if he could be changing his stance. While the NHL Lockout of 2012 has technically only wiped out the first couple of weeks thus far, the fact that there is no end in sight should results in the NHL announcing the cancellation of more regular season games in the weeks ahead.Crosby may have a desire to return to the ice before this whole mess is resolved, leaving him to perhaps entertain signing with a team in Europe. He says he is still waiting for things to work themselves out between the NHL owners and players.Wishful thinking, I guess.“Right now for me, it’s more of a week-to-week thing,” Crosby said. “Each week you want to figure out if discussions are heating up. If things get close, that’s great. If things are far apart again, that’s probably not a good sign, so we’ll see what happens.”Right now, nothing is really happening. That is the problem.“Guys around the league are trying to figure out what they’re going to do,” Crosby said. “A lot of guys are on the fence about going over to Europe or staying here. Everyone has their structure, their routine. And the season is supposed to be starting now. Now everyone has to decide what to do.”Many sources close to Crosby still believe that he will only head over to play in Europe if the entire 2012-2013 NHL season is lost, and while that could still happen, it would not be made official for another few months in all likelihood. That means that Crosby will either get to wait a while longer before he makes his decision, or he could decide to sign overseas regardless of where the current talks are between the owners and players.

Evgeni Malkin puts KHL defender to shame

Evgeni Malkin is back to work in Russia, embarrassing defenders left and right. He’s currently playing in his home country of Russia for the KHL’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk, who won their game on Monday 3-0 over Amur Khabarovsk (it’s a team, not a person). Malkin added his ninth point in nine games today with a stupid sick goal, not unlike what we’ve seen him do many times before...

Evgeni Malkin's Sick Stickwork Leads to Nifty Backhanded Goal During KHL Game (Video)

Evgeni Malkin is doing typical Evgeni Malkin things over in Russia. Malkin's KHL team, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, won its game against Amur Khabarovsk 3-0 on Monday, but it was the Penguins forward who drew oohs and aahs from the crowd. The reigning Hart Trophy winner scored an impressive backhanded goal in the third period after deking around a helpless defender. The defenseman...

To be lucky or to be good, that is the question

Last weekend, Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Derrick Pouliot let one ripper of a shot fly into the Kelowna Rockets’ net, giving the Portland Winterhawks a 1-0 win and Cam Lanigan his first WHL career shutout. But it’s important to note that the game winning goal happened late in the third period, after two periods of missed opportunities had flown by; which may be why Derrick...

Yea so Evgeni Malkin is doing okay in the KHL:   CrosbyFTW has the full cap. Their breakdown on Malkin: Evgeni Malkin - The goal was only Malkin's 2nd in 9 games, but certainly a step in the right direction.  He had 7 shots in over 23 minutes of ice time as he continues to throw the puck to the net with every chance he gets.  Overall, he had a strong game...
