It sounded as if Sidney Crosby would not play in Europe unless the current NHL Lockout cancelled the entire 2012-2013 NHL season, but it now sounds as if he could be changing his stance. While the NHL Lockout of 2012 has technically only wiped out the first couple of weeks thus far, the fact that there is no end in sight should results in the NHL announcing the cancellation of more regular season games in the weeks ahead.Crosby may have a desire to return to the ice before this whole mess is resolved, leaving him to perhaps entertain signing with a team in Europe. He says he is still waiting for things to work themselves out between the NHL owners and players.Wishful thinking, I guess.“Right now for me, it’s more of a week-to-week thing,” Crosby said. “Each week you want to figure out if discussions are heating up. If things get close, that’s great. If things are far apart again, that’s probably not a good sign, so we’ll see what happens.”Right now, nothing is really happening. That is the problem.“Guys around the league are trying to figure out what they’re going to do,” Crosby said. “A lot of guys are on the fence about going over to Europe or staying here. Everyone has their structure, their routine. And the season is supposed to be starting now. Now everyone has to decide what to do.”Many sources close to Crosby still believe that he will only head over to play in Europe if the entire 2012-2013 NHL season is lost, and while that could still happen, it would not be made official for another few months in all likelihood. That means that Crosby will either get to wait a while longer before he makes his decision, or he could decide to sign overseas regardless of where the current talks are between the owners and players.
