The Tennessean's Josh Cooper reported Sunday morning that Rich Clune would not be suspended for his hit on Artem Anisimov Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The hit came 9:37 left in the first period. Clune hit Anisimov well after the puck was released and left his feet for the big hit. After the play, Anisimov slowly came back to his feet and was bloodied in the eye region. At the bench, he was cleaned up by a Blue Jackets' trainer. Clune was given a major for interference and a game misconduct. After looking at the hit in the morning, the NHL said the hit was legal and did not qualify for supplemental discipline because impact was made .45 seconds after the Columbus forward released the puck. Clune is lucky he isn't going to receive any discipline because of his past history. He was fined earlier this season for boarding Aaron Palushaj on February 18. Losing Clune, a hard nosed fourth liner that plays well under Barry Trotz's system, would be devastating. So often he creates scoring chances by working down low and throwing pucks in front. With the lack of forward depth the team has now, they can't afford to lose another one that can help scoring goals.

Prospals passion and energy help light the way for Blue Jackets

I met Vinny Prospal in 1993-94, his first season as a pro in North America and my last season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Vinny sat behind me on the Bears team bus and always had a smile and some friendly conversation ready, even way back then.Fast forward to 1999, my first year in the NHL (with the expansion Atlanta Thrashers). I hadnt seen Vinny, who was...

There are fan favorites, but no MVPs said Coach Richards

Columbus Blue Jackets fans are clear when it comes to who their MVP is in this abbreviated NHL season, where the 13-12-6 club is on a 12-game point streak and are in playoff contention with 32 points: Sergei Bobrovsky. Is this even a competition? tweeted @DaveSeaman94, when the question was posed via the social media outlet, Twitter, to fans earlier this week. MVP Bobrovskyand its...

Glen Miller: The Streak is Over as Jackets Blitzed by Preds

The thought crossed my mind just prior to the opening puck drop that the Columbus Blue Jackets recent play was reminiscent of how Nashville has won a lot of games over the last several years. Consistently good goaltending, hard work, scoring by committee and a team-wide commitment to defense has resulted in a lot of wins for Nashville and Columbus used that same model during their...

The hottest team in the Western Conference invades Bridgestone Arena tonight for a Central Division showdown. The Columbus Blue Jackets are in town. That was not a typo. First period frosties were on the menu as Preds break Jackets’ streak…

Coming into the night, the Columbus Blue Jackets — yes, those Columbus Blue Jackets — had a 12-game streak in which they had gotten at least one point in the standings. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Nashville Predators were coming in having not won back-to-back games since February 14. On the strength of a 21 save performance by Pekka Rinne and five goals, the Preds...

About Last Night…Speeding Columbus Looks to Crash West Playoffs

The last 12 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets have been “The Sergei Bobrovsky Show.” The goaltender for Columbus has been the driving force behind the Blue Jackets’ 12-game surge where they’ve gone 8-0-4 and are on the cusp of the Western Conference playoffs. Bobrovsky had an easy time of it this night as the Blue Jackets doused the Flames 5-1. Nick Foligno scored twice...

Blue Jackets Keeping A Positive Attitude

from Steph Greegor of Fox Sports Ohio, “It comes from everyone,” said (Todd) Richards. “It’s easy in this business to get really negative. It’s real easy. But a quote I live by is ‘Pain is inevitable, but misery is optional.’ Losing is hard. It’s hard on everything. But it’s always your attitude and choices the next day on how you’re going to react to it...
