The All Star break is over and the second half of the NHL season is in full swing with a top lineup of games. This week's featured game showcases the Florida Panthers at the Washington Capitals in a Southeastern Division showdown. It's been a strange year in the Southeastern Division with the Washington Capitals struggling and the Tampa Bay Lightning doing the same. Enter the Florida Panthers, led by Kris Versteeg and all of a sudden this division has been turned upside down. The Capitals had hoped to change their fortunes by changing coaches earlier in the season. But the change hasn't brought the results that Washington had expected. But make no mistake, this team still has all the tools to make a serious run at the division title behind the mighty talents of Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin. Backstrom has stepped up his play this year and leads the team in scoring. If Ovechkin can get untracked from an uncharacteristic slump, this division could get very interesting. With just a couple of points separating the top three teams, this head-to-head matchup will be important in setting the tone for the second half.

David Krejci Was Bruins First Pick in 2004 NHL Draft
After Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin were taken with the top two picks in the 2004 NHL draft, the Bruins had to find their next key piece. So who did the B's take with their first pick in that year's draft? Well, Boston did not have a first round pick in 2004. Head Injuries Take Center Stage During NHL All-Star Weekend
Michelle is a contributing writer with Gold Star Games, your tailgating games company.
Whether you want to believe it or not, it is the brain that has taken center stage during the NHL all-star weekend. Forget hot shooters, goaltenders that are on fire or who has been selected for the all-star game.
The human brain has taken center ice; not because of the players that are there...

Postgame Avs-Wild: Another home goose egg
John Leya, The Denver Post
I don’t really know much else to say tonight. Covered a lot of games of the Burgundy and Blue over the years, so I guess this was just another 1-0 loss, one of those nights you get stoned by the other goalie and that’s that.
Except, nobody who seriously follows the Avs is going to be deluded by their 37-21 shots advantage tonight. Sure, the...
