The NHL has suspended Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres 25 games for his hit on Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa in Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round series.
Torres had his disciplinary hearing with the NHL on Friday in New York. After the hit, Torres was suspended indefinitely until the ruling was issued Saturday.
Torres left his feet on a late open-ice hit on Hossa and the Blackhawks star had to be taken off the ice in a stretcher. Hossa suffered a concussion from the hit and has not played since.
Torres' suspension could extend into next season depending on how far the Coyotes go in the playoffs.
