Rumor has it that there is still professional boxing matches taking place somewhere, but it seems like the better fights are on the ice these days.
Take this scuffle from Saturday night's Columbus Blue Jackets/Minnesota Wild game. Columbus's Jared Boll controls this one pretty much from the start and puts a good hurting on Minnesota's Clayton Stoner.
I hear there is an unwritten rule that once a guy goes down you don't keep throwing hay-makers (really?), but Boll opts to establish some dominance over Stoner instead.
Maybe it was more of a desire to prove that the last time these two fought was the exception and not the rule (from back on January 29th; it was a draw).

On Saturday night Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll and Minnesota Wild defenseman Clayton Stoner went at it in a rematch of their tilt from January 29th. The last time these two heavyweights fought it was a solid draw, but this time Boll (6’3″ 195 lbs) destroyed Stoner (6’4″ 228 lbs). Boll must really hate Stoner because he broke the unspoken code that you don’t...
No, he isnt Kreskin. But when Nick Foligno was traded to Columbus in July, this is exactly the vision he had for his new franchise. He knew the history here, but he also believed this team was capable of launching a new era for Blue Jackets hockey. The mission certainly isnt accomplished, but the team is trending in the right direction, and Foligno is extremely pleased about how...
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll and Minnesota Wild defenseman Clayton Stoner mixed it up on Saturday night, and the result was extremely one-sided. Check out how Boll made quick work of Stoner, and do your best to try and not feel bad for Stoner in this one.

My 3 Stars of the Game
1. Cam Atkinson, CBJ. 1 goal, 1 assist, generally wreaked havoc around the ice.
2. Sergei Bobrovsky, CBJ. After the Shattenkirk goal just 1:16 in, he was solid and kept the Jackets in long enough for the rest of the team to get going.
3. Ryan Johansen, CBJ. Showed flashes of why he went #6 overall just a couple seasons ago.
DENVER (AP) -- Nick Foligno scored at 4:31 of overtime, Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29 shots and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 on Monday night for their fourth straight win.
Blake Comeau, Mark Letestu and R.J. Umberger also added goals to help the Blue Jackets remain in the thick of a tightly packed playoff chase. They pulled even in points (47) with Detroit...
Springfield, MA, April 14, 2013 – Rookie Boone Jenner scored with 28.8 seconds left in the third period Sunday at the MassMutual Center, to give the Springfield Falcons a 4-3 victory over the Connecticut Whale.
Jenner, playing only his second game since joining the Falcons from the Ontario Hockey League, got his stick free at the side of the goal crease and stuffed the puck...
Down a goal late in the third period, R.J. Umberger glanced along the bench and saw hardly a drooped shoulder.
This isn't the same Columbus Blue Jackets squad, one that in the past might have let this game slip away.
This is a more determined Blue Jackets team, one that's focused on finding a way to get into the playoffs.
And this was definitely a good start.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Mark Letestu and Cam Atkinson scored in a shootout to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets over the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Saturday.
The Blue Jackets won their third straight and pulled even with Detroit and Dallas for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with 45 points.
The Wild dropped their third straight and were left clinging to a two...
Charlies Coyle's night lasted a grand total of 17 seconds and he was thrown out of the game for what appears to be a legal shoulder-to-shoulder hit on Blue Jackets forward Artem Anisimov.
For his efforts, Coyle was given a five minute major for contact to the head and a match penalty, and also received a five minute major for fighting.
While Coyle is not known for his fighting...

If the Columbus Blue Jackets qualify for the postseason, Sergei Bobrovsky deserves plenty of the credit.
He'll look to help guide visiting Columbus to a fourth consecutive victory as it continues its playoff push Monday night against the last-place Colorado Avalanche.
The Blue Jackets (19-16-7) had an NHL-worst 13 points after their fourth consecutive defeat March 1, but they...
With their playoff chances hanging by a thread, the Columbus Blue Jackets came up big in a 4 - 1 win over the St. Louis Blues. The victory was the second in a row for the Jackets over a team in possession of a playoff spot in the West and snapped St. Louis' six-game winning streak. Columbus entered play with just a 7.4% chance of qualifying for the postseason but after Friday...
