From Busted Coverage:

Welcome to the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey, known as a goon hockey league in Quebec where fans come to see punches and fighters come to extend careers. Donald Brashear finished his hockey career in this league.

So imagine our surprise to watch this video from a February 24 game between Cornwall and HC Carvena de Sorel-Tracy where two guys decide to drop the gloves for a brawl. It’s not shocking.

But what happens next is insane.

Neither guy throws a punch. Neither guy will engage the other.  You have Francis Lessard vs. Sebastien Laferriere.

Lessard is a 33-year-old goon who has battled at a variety of levels. He put up 181 PIM for the Atlanta Thrashers in 2003-04. He then put up 324 PIM for San Antonio in the AHL back in 2008-09. The guy will fight anyone.

As for Laferriere, he might only be 25, but the goon has spent five years fighting in this goon league. All you need to know about this guy is that his YouTube resume is littered with fights.

Then this happens last Sunday. Nothing. Figure skating.

  • Holy, what a bunch of girls! It was plainly obvious that they were just waiting for the ref's to jump in to "break it up", if you can even call it that. And how did they both end up with a penelty for FIGHTING? There was absolutely NO fight. Worlds WORST hockey fight, ever...
  • What a lame league where the fights are so obviously staged to the point where the refs not only don't try to prevent them (in the NHL, they will step in unless tthe punches are being thrown and they can get hurt) but they also step in and told them to START. This kind of league is the reason why hockey will NEVER be considered a legitimate sports league.
  • There was once a similar hockey "fight" with Nick Fotiu of the Rangers. I can't remember his opponent. After spending a couple of minutes dancing around in a boxing stance, the refs had enough and sent them to the penalty box for delay of game. Couldn't penalize them for fighting as no punches were thrown. Real tough guys.
  • Yeah, that Fotiu "fight" is on one of the old Don Cherry videos, and the blooper videos had plenty of other cases like it. This clip was kinda funny, but certainly not anything groundbreaking.

Here's two hockey players fighting...without throwing a single punch (Video)

Last weekend, a fight broke out in the North American Hockey League between Cornwall River Kings defenseman Francis Lessard and Sorel-Tracy HC Carvena forward Sébastien Laferrière, but ironically, neither player threw a single punch. Lessard and Laferrière were allowed to skate around for almost a full minute, circling each other while to lure the other player close enough...

The Worst Hockey Fight Ever

This would absolutely be the worst fight in the history of professional hockey…if a punch was actually thrown.  Since this was more like a display from figure skating’s doubles division, I’m not sure what to call this. This, eh, exhibition took place in the North American Hockey League between Francis Lessard of the Cornwall RiverKings and Sebastien Laferrier of the Sorel...

This is without question the worst hockey ‘fight’ of all time (Video)

When I first saw headlines for this video and read that people were calling it the worst hockey “fight” of all time, I was intrigued and had to see what it was all about. In this age of hyperbole, there’s no way it could be as bad as those people said, right? Well, turns out it was worse than anyone could imagine. When you think of hockey fights, you think of dropped gloves...
