Found January 27, 2013 on NY Rangers Blog:
According to Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun, the Rangers could be one of as many as four teams to 'make a push' at acquiring Habs' defenseman PK Subban. Garrioch states that Detroit, Philadelphia and Winnipeg could also be interested in acquiring the young defenseman's services if/when Habs GM Marc Bergevin makes him available. Subban reportedly is looking for a 5 year contract, north of $4 million per year. Not to discredit Garrioch or his "sources", but I don't think the Rangers are serious players to acquire Subban's services for a variety of reasons with next year's reduction in salary cap space and the Rangers' need to sign their own RFA's (McDonagh, Hagelin, Stepan) as primary factors. Sounds to me if Subban is put on the trade block, the Rangers will be involved only to drive the price up on Philly who are far more desparate to obtain a player like Subban than the Rangers are. P.K. Subban agrees to deal with Canadiens; Is it enough?

Subban-Watch officially ended this evening, with the Canadiens' defensive hold-out agreeing to a new contract. After his three-year entry level deal, Subban obviously wanted to be paid what he felt he was worth, hence the several weeks of waiting for a contract to get done. The Canadiens wanted a shorter contract to make sure that Subban could live up to his "value,"...

Eklund: Patient Petro Poised for Prime Payday

Last week, before a game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, I had a P.K. Subban related discussion with a longtime NHL executive who was at the game. I asked him if he thought the price tag on Subban was being set too high, either by the player himself in his contract demands and/or by the Canadiens in the rumored trade return they want if they deal his rights. His answer...
