Blues Claim Taylor Chorney Off Of Waivers
Yesterday the Edmonton Oilers placed Taylor Chorney on waivers for the purpose of re-assignment to Oklahoma City, but St. Louis Blues have picked up the young defenceman and placed Carlo Colaiacovo on injured reserve.
This frees up a contract for the Oilers, but without seeing someone they are excited about on waivers, the team is not likely to pick anyone up. Trades are always...
Taylor Chorney Assigned to OKC
The Edmonton Oilers today placed defenceman Taylor Chorney on waivers for the purpose of re-assignment to the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. This move likely indicates that Ryan Whitney is not too far off from returning to the Oilers’ lineup. Currently Whitney is listed as day to day, but the Oilers do not play another game until Thursday night in Minnesota.

Next Stop, Pottersville!
Corey Potter won an NHL job today, without having to do a thing. The Oilers had to make a decision on which defender to send down (Ben Eager or Ryan Whitney will come off the IR and OKC needs a defender) and the organization decided on flushing Taylor Chorney. Chorney never could establish himself as an NHL player, although his AHL performance improved markedly last year. Potter...
Oilers are Undefeated to Start Season
Edmonton Oilers correspondent Kathryn Uggerholt recaps the Oilers opening night win and Nugent-Hopkins’ first career goal.
By Kathryn Uggerholt
The Edmonton Oilers are currently undefeated with a 2-1 shootout win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in their season opener. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ first career goal was the game-tying marker before it went to a shootout. Jordan Eberle...
Richard Cloutier: Rumor: Gagner and Omark Available
I've heard from two different people today that the Oilers are shopping Sam Gagner and Linus Omark in an effort to acquire a Top 4 puck-moving defenseman. In respect to both players, they are being made available because of the depth the Oilers have, and the team's need to get bigger up front.
Specific to Gagner, Nugent-Hopkins looks like the long-term #1 center, Shawn...
Omark Sits
Based on several sources it looks like Linus Omark won't play in game 2 tomorrow night against the Minnesota Wild. Opinions vary, but most believe there are other options for HS that make more sense. While true, the Oilers signed Darcy Hordichuk to do a job and Ryan Jones can penalty kill, so they're in. Added to that is the fact that Lennart Petrell can PK too and has shown...
Nugent-Hopkins Helps Oilers Win Home Opener
The Edmonton Oilers were able to defeat a Pittsburgh Penguins team (minus Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury and Brooks Orpik) in a shootout 2-1 Sunday night. This was thanks to a strong goaltending performance by the game's first star, Devan Dubnyk who stopped 33 of 34 shots, great penalty-killing, and the first career NHL goal for 2011 first overall pick, Ryan...
Oilers assign Chorney

G2 11-12 Oilers at Wild
As a kid, I feared nothing more than the family trips up the Fraser Canyon. My Dad would drive the '53 Flathead Ford from Whonnock to Hope, we'd stop for awhile while he filled up and then it was game on. I remember it like it was yesterday--the old man having a wonderful time negotiating the turns in a car that (despite the look) could flat out fly--while my Mom would (with...
Hemsky
I really enjoyed having Ales Hemsky back the other night. There was a moment, where he skated down the ice, circled the net, gave the puck to the defenceman at the point, got it back and then made a simply outrageous move around the Penguins’ player that involved Hemsky playing the puck off his left [...]
Oilers-Wild Preview
The Edmonton Oilers' last two first-round draft picks both contributed to a win in the season opener.
Ending Edmonton's woes at the Xcel Energy Center might be an even bigger task for the young stars.
The Oilers will try to snap a 16-game losing streak in Minnesota when they visit the Wild on Thursday night.
Edmonton (1-0-0) is 0-14-2 in its last 16 visits to the Xcel...

St. Louis Blues defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo was placed on injured reserve with an upper body injury sustained in the opener.
