Edmonton Oilers defenseman Taylor Fedun was taken off the ice on a stretch with an apparent injury to his right leg in Friday night's game against the Minnesota Wild.
Fedun crashed into the boards when he appeared to step on the stick of Minnesota's Eric Nystrom as they were racing to chase a loose puck to avert an icing call.
Nystrom was trying to reach around Fedun and poke at the puck when the incident occurred. Nystrom received a game misconduct and five-minute major for boarding.
An undrafted free agent out of Princeton, the 23-year-old Fedun is in his first season with Edmonton.
