Edmonton Oilers defenseman Andy Sutton has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL for his hit on Alexei Ponikarovsky of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Sutton was offered an in-person hearing with the the NHL to discuss the events of Wednesday's game.
The blue-liner was suspended for five games earlier in the season for his hit to the head of Colorado Avalanche rookie Gabriel Landeskog during an Oct. 28 game.
Sutton has collected three points and 50 penalty minutes this season.
