Oilers shutout Flyers 2-0
It was a rare visit by the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night in Edmonton, so rare in fact that the last time the Flyers won in Rexall Place was March 19, 2001. It’s not as though the Flyers play in Edmonton every year, although that would be a good change, but rather the teams only face each other in Edmonton every two to three years. Still, this victory is sweet for the Oilers; they need all of the wins they can get if only for their own sense of pride.

The Philadelphia Flyers' Wayne Simmonds scored a game-tying goal the other night with 9.7 seconds left in the game, but playing from behind has hurt the Flyers recently.
The Philadelphia Flyers have struggled lately. If you had to point to one specific issue plaguing them, it might be hard to do. There has been suspect goaltending, though that wasn’t entirely the issue in last...
The position of hokcey analysts in recent years between the benches has been one of the more novel innovations in recent broadcasting history. Granted, when Pierre McGuire is between the glass, the potential insight gained from such a unique perspective is minimal. However, what often isn't considered is the danger of analysts being so close to the action. Well, TSN analyst...
I came to the realization around the time Scott Hartnell only received a two-minute penalty for throwing a deliberate, intent-to-injure knee hit on Magnus Paajarvi that the officials, once again, were cheering for the team playing against the Oilers.
The league really needs to do a little investigation of their refs, because some obviously are paid well to give preferential treatment...
Philadelphia Flyers forward James Van Riemsdyk is on the block and would have been traded had he not been concussed earlier in the year, reports the panel on SportsNet‘s HockeyCentral Trade Tracker.
According to SportsNet hockey analyst John Shannon, Van Riemsdyk doesn’t fitting with general manager Paul Holmgren’s plans for the Flyers. While the 2007 second overall draft...
If you were among the Delaware Valley residents who called it a night and went to sleep before the end of the Philadelphia-Edmonton game last night, you have company. The Philadelphia Flyers hockey team did the same thing.
Last night's 2-0 Oilers victory was in equal parts the product of Edmonton elevating its game and playing well (especially defensively) and the Flyers&...
The Flyers held the Oilers off the scoreboard in the first period after allowing at least one first period goal in five consecutive games.
Jake Voracek and Wayne Simmonds both played their 300th career NHL game tonight.
The Flyers haven’t scored a goal in Edmonton since October 6, 2007. The last Flyer to score at Rexall Place was Simon Gagne at 18:11 of the second...
I canât remember the last time that I saw Flyers coach Peter Laviolette let loose with a fist pump, like he did on Tuesday night in Winnpeg.
9.7 seconds was all that separated the Flyers from falling to the 6th seed and the Jets from gaining the third 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference.
And when Wayne Simmonds got that goal, forcing overtime in a 4-4 match, Lavy let loose...

After failing to win consecutive games for the first time in almost two months, the Philadelphia Flyers seek a fourth straight win at Calgary as they take on the Flames.
With the season winding down, Coyotes goalie Mike Smith is the hands-down winner over ex-Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov (now with the Flyers) in several stats.
